Montclair’s Radio Station WMSC Scores 16 National Nominations

Montclair State University’s student radio station, WMSC-FM, received an impressive 16 national award nominations from the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System (IBS), highlighting the station’s exceptional programming and talent across multiple categories.
The nominations span a diverse range of content, from live music broadcasts to community outreach events, showcasing the breadth and depth of WMSC’s student-driven media productions. Standout nominations include Best Live Music Broadcast, Best Morning Show, and Best Campus-Community News, demonstrating the station’s commitment to engaging and informative programming.
Notable individual recognitions include Shannon Daly receiving her second consecutive nomination for Best Promo, and Aly Erario also earning her second nomination for Best Business Director.

“These nominations reflect the incredible talent, creativity, and dedication of our student broadcasters,” said station General Manager, Anabella Poland. “Each nomination represents a student’s individual achievement and the collaborative ecosystem of support, innovation, and hands-on learning that defines the School of Communication and Media experience.”
The student-operated station has more than 850 current undergraduate students that participate in 88 shows, including more than 150 disc-jockeys and contributors.
“We’re proud to showcase the diverse voices and stories of our campus and Northern New Jersey community through innovative radio programming,” said student station manager, Jared Tauber.
The winners will be announced at the IBS Conference and Awards in New York City on March 8, 2025. Over the years, WMSC has earned dozens of IBS award nominations and in 2024 took home first place honors in two categories.
IBS supports college and high school media outlets and organizations. Since its inception in 1940, IBS has proudly been led by volunteers who are passionate about student media. More than 3,000 entries were submitted from 100-plus schools across the country and the globe.
The station is located in the state-of-art School of Communication and Media building.

Student projects and programs have recently received national recognition from PRSSA’s Bateman Competition, an Edward R Murrow Award, several Marconi Award nominations, and a College Television Award from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
